You Are Here: Our Equipment / Mud Motor Dynamometer

Sending directional tools downhole without performance testing is like buying a car without taking it for a test drive

Common sense indicates that before making the big purchase, you’d take it for a spin. We feel the same way about committing to directional tools. Drilling can be an extremely risky business. It’s important to take every precaution possible. “No matter how great your maintenance program is, you shouldn’t send directional equipment downhole before you’ve tested it.” (JP)

A dynamometer checks the performance of a mud motor before it’s sent downhole. Mostar dynos each and every motor before sending it out to the field.

It’s like having a “doctor” for directional tools –gloves and all

Performance testing our mud motors is like giving them a complete physical. Diagnostics are critical to motor performance and reliability. Potential performance issues are identified in advance and resolved in-house.

Diagnostics are also important should there ever be a failure in the field. “We can haul equipment back to the shop, pull it straight off the truck and dyno it right in front of our clients’ eyes. The dyno would determine if our tools failed or not.”(JP)

Get serious

“If you’re going to be serious about servicing your mud motors, it’s important to have a dyno.” (JP) Mostar houses one of the only dynamometers in the province. “Bringing a dyno to Calgary was one of the first decisions that Mostar made. It demonstrates our commitment to being truly diligent and doing real preventative maintenance for our clients.” (JP)

We don’t rely on third party definitions of good maintenance. We do it all in-house.
