You’re used to drilling with either mud pulse or EM (electromagnetic) technology. While mud pulse is both proven and reliable, it takes more time to get readings to surface, slowing down the drilling process. EM is faster and more efficient, but higher resistance formations absorb the signal, making it, at times, impossible to get surveys.

To switch between mud pulse and EM when you’re downhole normally requires tripping. Well, it used to. We figured there had to be an easier way to get the job done.
With the Dual Telemetry MWD system (patent pending), you can switch between EM and mud pulse technology without tripping.
It’s flexible. The Dual telemetry MWD system gives you the ability to maximize speed using EM technology where the formation allows, and convert to mud pulse when required – without tripping. Switching between EM and mud pulse can be done in less than eight minutes.
